Brand New Sulfate-Free Shampoo Balls = Nohbo: Available Now on Indiegogo - Its Time To Start Paying Attention!

 Why Nohbo Shampoo Balls?

As the human race continues to exist on this planet, we have to take into consideration our environment. Nohbo is one small step to help reduce plastic and waste making the world a cleaner more livable space.

These balls are the size of a quarter. Absolutely ZERO packaging, don't just think of you.....think of your children and your children's children.

Well, I happened upon one of the most innovative products in hair shampoo that I have ever seen. Being as the majority of you ask us about shampoo's every single day of every week, we figured you would be as interested in this as much as I am. But...NO, it is not quite available yet - which believe me I found frustrating as well..But, lets help the kid out and start talking about it. We are 6,000 people strong here at Killerstrands Blog and that is THANKS to all of you ! Now I rarely ask anything of all of you but I am going to this time.

YUK - plastics

I feel I have finally found the answer to everyone's questions and the funny part is a 15 year old boy developed this and it was presented on the TV show SHARK TANK ( which I don't watch) I happened upon this idea from my Cosmetic Chemistry magazine, which is saying a LOT that the editor of the magazine wrote a small review of the product and the fact that a 15 year old invented it - - AND I AM SO VERY HAPPY THAT THIS KID DID THIS ! ! !  and the one developer that I truly admire, " Mark Cuban" took a huge interest in this idea/shampoo and invested $100.000. and acquired 25% of the company. That was all I needed to know to make my own small investment and we will carry it as soon as its available (they say some time next month).
I LOVE THE MESSAGE, the formula, the idea, every single thing about the company

NOHBO is name of a small ball which is a shampoo ball
With all the plastic we use ( just check out every single hair product shelves in every single store you go in now. { no longer is it just the Salons - companies have figured out that people are obsessed with their hair and they will buy expensive hair products even if THEY DON'T WORK ! !

Above is a list of the features of NOHBO Shampoo Balls to give you an idea of what is important to the company it gels alongside my ideas about hair care as well, which you can see.

So, for the very first time I would like to ask all of you to do a little Social Media spreading for me and for the kid, I think the product will be the answer to many of your requests for a wonderful shampoo. I promise as soon as I get my first one, you too, will hear about it.....

Thank you so much for listening and reading my little story.

Over a Half a Million People Have Read This Post . . . .Don't You Think You Should Too? Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Why All the Uproar ? ?

I just noticed today that over a half a million people have now read this Post....there is a good reason for that and I hope you will take the time to read it .
Over 557,771 people took the time to read this, maybe you should too !

Because the health of your hair ....and your hair staying ON YOUR HEAD AND NOT SHEDDING .....all depends on the fact that you choose to use a sulfate-free Shampoo. It is truly that important !

The Health of Your Body.......Shows Up In Your Hair

In other words, if your hair is thin lifeless, shedding ... many times it can be a sign of another serious illness. So always rule that out, prior to working on my hair care techniques. Please. Rarely is that the sign of something serious, but I have spoken to numerous physicians about this, and they all concur that there are zillions of diseases that begin with hair loss. It is SOOO preventable within the walls of Killerstrands, especially if you follow 10,000 HEADS.

The one and only type of shampoo you should ever use is :

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-FREE or
SLS-Free
also
ALS-Free
SLS or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate:is a Surfactant

What SLS is...in layman's terms?

There is an ingredient is every shampoo and every "cleaning" agent whether it be for the body, for the hair, for the garage, for the bathroom, for the face, etc., called the "SURFACTANT". The surfactant in shampoos are surface active ingredients, meaning they can interact with a surface. The chemical nature of a surfactant allows it to surround and trap oily materials from surfaces. One portion of the molecule is oil compatible soluble while the other is water soluble.

In other words the surfactant is the detergent - or the "cleaning portion" of the formula.
The surfactant is the portion of the formula that can have the harshness of the formula beCAUSE it is the detergent. Detergents CAN be harsh, but they can also be 'gentle'. For the past 20 years almost every shampoo has used the surfactant: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate SLS or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate ALS, why? they are super - super cheap AND they make lots and lots of foam and bubbles.

People expect a lot from shampoos, its funny a product like that - which you use frequently .... we really... know nothing about.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to tell a good shampoo from a poor one. Cost, fragrance, and lots of foam is what most people look for in shampoo products. Lather and foam does absolutely nothing to make a shampoo a good one, but they often get the most attention. This is something I am trying to re-teach America:
Lots of bubbles has zero to do with the quality of shampoo - you must let that one thing 'go' - please.
Foaming occurs when surfactant molecules gather around air instead of oil. The result is millions of tiny bubbles. Obviously, the air bubbles are using the surfactants that should be removing dirt and oil. We have all seen shampoo advertisements showing happy, beautiful people taking showers with their heads heaped high with mounds of lather. These images have taught the public to associate lather with cleansing ability.

The truth is, lots of foamy lather only means too much shampoo was used.
Excess foam equals waste.
Sebum and other oils quickly destroy foam.
Ideally, the head should have just enough lather to lubricate the scalp and hair. This will help your fingers massage the shampoo more effectively into the hair.
Fragrances and foaming qualities are not good ways to evaluate shampoos.
Here is a common Formula to make a Simple Shampoo
Ingredient
Part A
SodiumCocoyl Isethionate ................20%       (look for this Surfactant above & below .. I love all  qualities)
Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate..........13%
Crodasinic LS-30 ............................11%
PEG 150 Distearate
Glycol Stearate
PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate
Calendula Extract (oil soluble)
Part B
GuarSilk
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein
Dl Panthenol
Water................................60-77%...........water is the majority of all shampoos, but the combination is what will give you the best results
Part C
Liquid Germall Plus
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate are easy to use and provide excellent foam and cleansing with mildness but that is where the substitution would be -- the SLS or the ALS would be plugged in there in other formulas. So you can see HOW MUCH of the formula is this harsh ingredient. It may not seem like a lot to you .......but I promise it is.  In formulating all the products you use, we use 2-3-4% of the TOTAL and that is a significant amount.
GuarSilk provides superior conditioning and additional viscosity. C12-15 alkyl benzoate provides sheen and improves wet combing. Panthenol & wheat protein for strength and conditioning.

Why did companies use SLS?
SLS & ALS both create huge bubbles and are super cheap to use... and for years no one was looking "into" ingredients that are in cosmetics. The times are changing though. I was one of the first out here in wacky California - even my mentor didn't quite understand why I  cared about it so much!
There are many manufacturers that use that exact same SLS as the main surfactant in garage cleaners, engine degreasers and the horrendous list goes on and on....the last place those ingredients should be > is in your hair.Try to remember the names, jot them down - put the list in your wallet, be sure not to purchase any hair products with those names in them. I'm not one of those fanatics, I promise you, I feel if you are fanatical about anything, it will drive you crazy. . . so crazy that avoiding whatever it is you were trying to, would be detrimental to having a balanced life.

My reason for avoiding SLS & ALS?
I began to notice that I was starting to have 18 year olds sit in my chair that had hair thinning and hair loss. Something I had never seen before. Of course, I had  30 (very few) - 40-50 - 60 year olds with the beginnings of this  problem. As you age, your hair thins. . . of course in men, but the problem began to become super predominant in women PLUS it began to become a problem in youth. . . so I began reading.

This is when I started my journey into cosmetic chemistry.... so it took a full year of reading and joining a couple different groups, ordering huge textbooks and reading them /ALL OF THEM! learning how EXACTLY the hair follicle/hair strand worked. How and why certain things happened that had to do with the growing cycle....then I began to look into some of the ingredients in some of the products that we used. I am not a rocket scientist by any means.....BUT what I do have is : COMMON SENSE .

Therefore to me, I wanted to find a common bond. What did the 16-17 year old girl sitting in my chair use that the 67 year old man did as well??? It took me almost a full year. No one would help me, no one cared but me....But the 16-17 year old girl sure did.
Finally it hit me.....shampoo....they both used shampoo. It was so simple and I missed it for a long time.
Then I had to decipher and learn what each ingredient was and what was its capacity within shampoo???

Long Story - - - SHORT . . . I started to focus on SLS and ALS. . . and then I got my first microscope. I ordered my first tub of SLS ( a powder).
I opened the jar and the caustic smell of it burnt the inside of my nose and nearly knocked me over. I could NOT believe how rough and how horrifically strong - - JUST THE SCENT - - of this product was.
I knew right then and there that this one ingredient was the cause of all the problems.
It also cost pennies, so the whole thing started to make more and more sense to me.
Super cheap . . . so the profits would be huge.
Super bubbles, which the public had been trained to love from the commercials.
Easy to work with.

I had been looking for a common denominator as to why all these people were having thinning hair & hair loss and this was it. All of these people used shampoos with SLS in them
- - we all did, we didn't know any better - this was years ago when we didn't question this type of thing.

So, after a lot of studying - researching and trials and errors with my clients. . . I discovered once we switched numerous people off of the SLS- shampoo's their hair thinning/loss after 2-4-6-8 months - - slowly improved. It worked for both men and women, which I didn't think was going to be the case. This was about 12-13 years ago . . . so steadily since then I have been writing letters, talking to labs and trying to bark up the right tree in hopes of getting the word out there. I feel 2008 was the first year the movement officially started, we still have a long way to go but at least it is opened up and now in 2011 I can proudly say I truly feel I had a lot to do with almost every company having a Sulfate-free shampoo.

PLEASE - PLEASE, get yourself an SLS or ALS-FREE Shampoo. . . .You WILL notice the difference when you quit using them and for the long term, you will be grateful.

I'm very proud of the shampoos in our store. We are the only site/store that carries 100% Sulfate-Free Shampoos. I just feel strongly about them for all of you and your hair's health.

I brought the previous comments up from a different post at a different time...but the same topic

Dear Andrea, I Do Not Want You To Lose Anymore Hair . . . .

A Note to a Dear Friend I Have Made Through This Website....who needs to Use A Violet -Toned Shampoo to Cancel The Brass In Her Blonde. . . .

Dear Andrea,
....you must change shampoos ...that shampoo has Sulfates in it and I believe 100% that sulfates cause hair loss in females.
Sulfates are what the entire 10,000 HEADS Protocol is all about.

(This is EXACTLY How I feel in 2014 and Need to Stress the IMPORTANCE of the 10,000 HEADS Protocol)

GET RID OF SULFATES in your life and your children's lives!
Schwartzkopf does not make a sulfate-free lavender shampoo....unless you have a brand new one that hasn't hit  Calif. yet, the east coast does get new products before us in certain brands.........look on the back and it will be either the
1st,2nd,3rd or 4th ingredient if it says:
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate........
or anything even close to that such as Sodium Sulfate, SLS , then it is Bad and you need to rush right out and get a new shampoo or if u want we can start using up your credit.
I don't care, I just want you OFF that shampoo if it has sulfates in it.
I ran multiple tests on women of all ages because I had girls at the age of 18 have hair loss who had never colored their hair and I was trying to find a common link betweeen them and the 40 yr olds and the 60 year olds..... the common denominator was Shampoo with sulfates in them. AND.....when they switched to a sulfate-free shampoo, the hair loss stopped. It was that way across the board. It was such an easy solution to hair loss in women.
The big corporations were dragging their feet and finally just last month Redken ( who is owned by L'Oreal - a french company) finally was the last to give in and make a sulfate-free professional shampoo in a shocking pink container.
I will tell you I have only found 4 and
in the order of how people buy them:
  • Tressa violet Wash- sulfate -free
  • Pravana Violet sulfate-free
  • OSMO Sulfate-free violet pearl
anyway Andrea, I decided this was important enough to bring it up to the troops that read this Blog again, so they could benefit from it as well.

Please be sure your shampoos do not have any form of sulfates in them.

Cheap Shampoos Will Destroy Your Hair -

I'm not screwing around with the subject matter today.  I'm a little hot under the collar..........
Large shampoo manufacturers that have millions of dollars are the only companies that can afford to advertise on TV, magazines, and on the Internet. I want to tell you how some of these things work so you understand why you have been using cheap (miserably-made) shampoo your whole life and you never knew how much it is completely destroying your hair - strands, roots and condition. The other day here in Los Angeles there was a big controversial story about YELP on the local networks.

The fact that an older company found out that the businesses and products and stores that received high ratings were the ones that PAID the company and that was the ONE & ONLY way to get high ratings on the company! I though, maybe people don't know how this is run..... - its just like Google.....I  love Google, because for a teeny tiny company every once in a while they will throw me a bone. BUT MOST PEOPLE SAY TO ME : ''where have you been hiding I have been looking for someone like you for years. I'm here, I just don't have thousands of dollars to be #1 - when you SEARCH......or advertise so you can find me. This couple was FLOORED that YELP was not honest and not organically true to the  comments it received. I decided it was time to come out of my hole and tell you all the 100% absolute truth about what goes on in the advertising industry, for those that don't know.

First of all this all relates completely to the hair industry. I receive hundreds of emails that I gladly read everyone of .....why? ....because  still after 8 years LOVE TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENS to each and everyone of you with your hair. Never stop writing me.  But, from all of these emails, I hear on a daily basis ............ that you have been using shampoo you get in Target, Walmart or the Grocery Store and none of you ever had a clue that these shampoos were creating hair loss, hair destruction, drying and crumbling of the hair strands, and general loss of hairs per square inch on the head of all women and men. Who wants this??? Do any of you want to have destroyed......dry.....falling out hair? Well, I promise you after 8 years of continuous emails, that is all Grocery Store Shampoos create....and they do so because they all have the money to advertise on this very INTERNET that you are on. The TV you watch on your giant screen Television set, and the magazines you throw around your house and your bed.

BIG GIANT HAIR SHAMPOO manufacturers Pay thousands of dollars to become #1-10 on the Internet. Right now I want you to Go open another window - - - -up to the top there .. ^ ^ ^ ^ ..open the window and go to GOOGLE.......then search for "Shampoo"......all those people on that 1st page have paid 10's of thousands of dollars to be in that position on the page, I want you all to realize that none of the Search's you perform on the Internet (using Yahoo, Bing, Google..........any Search engine) THAT IS HOW THEY MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS by being 1st thru 20 on the search engines. They are not there because they are truly GOOD shampoo's. Everything quality on the internet is small and hard to find.

I was brought up by a very successful businessman which is why I kind of naturally understood this when I started this whole thing. My purpose was to try to write honest-true-stories about hair products that would KEEP-YOUR-HAIR-ON-YOUR-HEAD + keep it in good condition + soft + shiny....DO YOU KNOW THAT by simply spending a few more bucks on shampoo every month you can totally CHANGE THE CONDITION OF YOUR HAIR.....I have been trying to teach anyone who would read, how and where to find good shampoos. That was my first ambition and then I switched over to trying to teach the majority not to use the same companies, who also ruin your hair with BOXED hair color. Not to ruin your hair with bad hair color.

IN HAIR................

QUALITY COUNTS.....and its only a matter of a few dollars, to make the difference in a bottle of shampoo that doesn't trash your hair, than for one that does. I used to tell my clients that if they would just buy 2 less coffees, or 2 less beers a month they could afford a great shampoo.  . .  and for every person I have ever met in my entire experience in the hair bizness. . . . EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU  - - - LOVE THE CRAP out of your hair, so why wouldn't you want to switch to something you put on your hair ALL MONTH LONG that can make the difference in more hair on your head or not.....I mean come on boys and girls.....

Right now I have a small group where I teach people one at a time how to get that Boxed Color out of the hair......and each and every one of them....as they begin to remove the Color begins to have LIGHT/LIFE & HAPPINESS in their voice with how their hair feels. They cannot believe that just by removing Boxed Hair Color your hair begins to feel like it did .... 10-20-30 years ago ....soft,shiny - like a real child's hair, even ! I listen to this all the time and I think I get sooooooooooooo used to it that I become immune to the heartbreaking and wonderful stories....they are in writing now in the Group if you want to read about them. With my last Groups I didn't go to the extent of helping that I am now, which is why we have the small fee . . . but I think most feel it is well worth it.

Back to the large corporations, Shitty shampoo's and the fact that the lousy shampoo's are the only ones who can afford to advertise and the advertisements are what you see as you sit on your sofa's at night, which inspires you to choose a shampoo. I mean I saw a lousy commercial tonight and it set me off....I'm sorry.....if I talked one person into buying a SULFATE-FREE SHAMPOO or any shampoo in our store. . . . it all will have been worth it !

The Shampoo Games

 Starring : Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Celebrities

I thought I would change things up and answer a readers question, I never know what I will write about I just start looking at all things 'hair' and see what 'floats my boat', and today I wanted to answer this dear woman's question . . . . . . .
.." I have been using Pureology Hydrate shampoo for a few years now and thought that it was a great shampoo. After reading this I looked at the ingredient list and it has ALL of the bad ingredients in it!!! I am very surprised by this seeing as how it is supposed to be a very reputable brand. I was trying to read thru all of these comments and thought that I saw Pureology as one of the recommended brands?? Did I see that right? So I'm now in search for a new shampoo and conditioner and was wondering what you would recommend. I cant seem to find your recommendation list if there is one
.

                                                                                                        Anonymous  - August 21, 2012.."

That is the downfall of having a 5 year old BLOG. And I do apologize, but when Pureology first came out it was the very best shampoo I had ever experienced - anyone in the elite hair industry had ever experienced. It was also the 1st shampoo to break the $20.00/ bottle price, which was so shocking at the time. Weird huh... only 8 years ago we were shock & awed by this fantastic piece of shampoo technology!
This Blog is 5 years old, and while that might not seem old, it is in Internet years. 5 years ago was when I had checked the ingredients on the PUREOLOGY label and they had changed - - drastically !  Pureology was bought out by a huge ass French company. Can you guess who it is? So before the story think about this.... the French, I'm told apparently they don't like us. So, I guess this is their way of getting us back? ? ! !

I get this same type of question from time to time from many different people about different brands of sulfate-free shampoos, & shampoos they 'thought' were of excellent quality only to find out - - they were in fact......NOT ! So, its time to clear the air, or to clear the shampoo air anyway . . .

Anonymous: The quick Answer is........we now have a store killerstrands.com  .
The store has ONLY Sulfate-Free Shampoos & 100% of the shampoos have been vetted by me personally. We are the only store/website that truly, deeply, dearly believes in helping 'you' the public learn how to properly care for your hair.

If I new what a difficult job it would be I probably would have never started this Blog. I now know what a "Love /Hate" relationship is. We have not grown like I thought we would. I thought the public would eat up this information. I also felt like I was taking my life in my hands....as these companies are so large they probably have numerous "HIT MEN" on staff ( and I am not kidding at all - but at least its out there now, if I happen to disappear soon be sure to call the police in my city would you please ?? !! ).

I also believe the reason for that is because I speak so poorly against the biggest advertisers in the United States of America. Google, Yahoo, & the entire Internet, rely on advertisers and have been built on advertising dollars - so the last thing they will do is help me out. . I never thought of that in the beginning though... I was excited to learn this new thing called a BLOG. I thought because it was the Internet, that just the people would propel Killerstrands... so we all could get the word out.  The word is serious if you have a daughter.  I mean when I can get someone to truly give the 12 Steps of the program I refer to as "10,000 HEADS"  an honest > 90-day try  10,000 HEADS Protocol - they see -- exactly what I am referring to.  I have always received the most heartwarming email thanking me for the ones that do..... But I only get a couple a month, which is nothing for the amount of time that we have been at this. I know its hard, but I have found - in my years in the hair industry, that people care more deeply about their hair then they do about their parents ! ! Not their shoes....but pretty much most of their family members.  A joke of course, but you would not believe some of the things I hear.

I feel & believe with every inch of my soul that female hair-loss begins now, here in southern California at the age of 16-18 - - because of the hideous formula's these gigantor companies make & advertise on TV every single day of their young lives.  They use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in every single shampoo commercial for hair on TV / magazines & the Internet today, why? ...its super super - CHEAP !  Remember when you were young, you never thought any commercial could be false, you never thought anything bad would happen to you....we didn't have people looking into those types of things 20-30-40 years ago. The only reason I did  ?? I kept having young, super young 15-16-17 year olds come in with very internally damaged hair. This was before Flat Irons, & those only propelled the problem even deeper. I kept trying to figure out a common denominator...of course 50 - 60 year old women would have this super radical damage from years of boxed color and way too many curling irons, heated rollers, and lousy products.....but none of these young girls used any of those things. It took me over a year to the day it finally hit me as I was driving to work ( where I would do most of my good clear thinking) in the most beautiful canyon in the world "Malibu Canyon". The one and only common denominator in the old with poor hair health & the young with poor hair health  - - - -  was shampoo. Then I spent 2 years trying to learn about the ingredients in shampoos and all about them - remember prior to the Internet as we know it and prior to GOOGLE as it is today !

I then was diagnosed with a rare & deadly bone cancer it began in my left leg and forgot about all of that for about a year or two.....But I had already made my first Gleam and my first version of 'THRIVE--N' which sold like crazy for $96.00, so you are getting it wholesale  ! But the disease started to eat at my leg  .....  I could no longer "stand" for longer than 30  minutes (I used to stand for 10-12 hours).....something you need to do in order to do hair had been taken away from me.  Therefore in retrospection of my career of doing hair and becoming ill I had figured out a long time ago that Sulfates and lousy formulation of hair shampoos and conditioners were 100% responsible for all the new hair-loss and damage I was seeing in my career on a daily basis. So I began formulating rougher versions of the products I have as Killerstrands own, in our store today. Once ill, it opened up time to take Cosmetic Chemistry courses online. Which taught me exactly how the products should be made. I wished I had time to take courses on making shampoo's... but our teacher had a heart attack and died one morning, it was absolutely horrifying he was the most brilliant chemist ever.... he just had a way of teaching that suited my style of learning I suppose.

So, as I had stated earlier, Killerstrands kind of grew out of a small portion of women on the web who were striving for solutions to the poor health of their hair.  That is the one and only reason we are still here, little by little. . . mainly our own products have kept Killerstrands alive. I keep preaching and I'm so happy to have this as it gives me something to do with now that I need to be off of my feet almost the entire day.

In the USA - 3 absolutely humungous companies have bought up all of the little companies, and what happens is, they leave the original name the same ( so I believe the general public has no idea the sale took place.... it takes about 1-2 years, for the 'press' of the 'sale' to go away ( Pureology was sold for 20 million... to who? a French company of all things  ?!?!  "L'OREAL ")      http://beautykazoo.hubpages.com/hub/Pureology-and-Loreal   Everyone I knew that were reputable in hair in L.A. dropped the line immediately, L'Oreal has a 50 year reputation for destroying cosmetic companies right and left. Every single company L'Oreal purchases in the hair industry.....they destroy. I am amazed they still are a prospering company. So, once the big corporate employees come in to the new smaller company they have gobbled up... all the employees of the big GIANT MEGATROPOLIS company begin to figure out how to cheapen down the formulas of all the products / they search for cheaper packaging, move the production to China or Mexico, all to make their profits skyrocket, so they look good to their stockholders. I mean I guess its the American way, but to me that is not the America I thought I grew up in.

You see that is the biggest misconception to 'you' the public, everyone thinks that Pureology is the same company and the man & wife couple who began it and invented this clever technology along with one very good Cosmetic Chemist is still in existence when in fact, it is not. Jim Markham who developed PUREOLOGY, had begun with ABBA, and he got bought out with that company then he started Pureology and it was the very first time Luxury Premium hair care was made available to the women of the USA.  I hated him after he did that, every hair stylist in America did, which is really weird because I did not even know him ! Remember that shampoo?? All you need was a 1/4Inch of it - the tiniest amount - (which btw - every shampoo I carry now passes the 1/2 inch test, which is still pretty good.)  Pureology though would make the biggest richest most sudzzy hair. Its so weird but the worst thing for the structure of the hair is SUDS, but you cannot find a woman who will give up suds for health.  That is why PUREOLOGY  'was' a true piece of genius. . .  it had both....the best ingredients AND the most Suds ever.  That way you may pay a lot for a bottle of wonderfully formulated shampoo - but the RIGHT ingredients are in it - there is nothing that will cause hair loss - actually there are herbs that help cure it.... I have looked for everything in the shampoos we have in the store. You may wonder why we only carry 1 shampoo of a whole entire line, and that is because the rest of the products did not pass my tests, which I ran on myself ! yep, every one.
We all have different body chemistry's but with me being a virgin redhead, and most everything doesn't get along with my stupid bodies make-up  - - I figure you all will be happier than clams with every single shampoo !
And just for the Hell of it the other 2 Gigantic hair company destroyers are? ? ? ? . . .
(2) Revlon
and
(1) P & G Proctor and Gamble - who hold the grand title of being the number 1 advertiser in the entire USA. Higher than Chevy & FORD and COORS BEER  and every single other company  + any Internet company... The #1 Advertiser in the USA is Proctor & Gamble here are the hair companies that they have devoured and spit out:
  • Head & Shoulders
  • Natural Instincts hair color
  • Aussie
  • Pert
  • Nioxin ! ......really? this is new
  • Nice n Easy
  • Wella - which is the color I used to love  - the minute I heard this, it was gone
  • Head & Shoulders
  • Pantene
  • Sebastian
  • Herbal Essence
  • Fekkai - Yep Frederik Fekkai the genius hair wizard from France sold out to an American company
  • Vidal Sassoon - he regretted this so much, he always remained a man of class though
  • Clairol
  • OLAY
  • Max Factor
  • PERFECT 10
  • and on and on
there are more... I just get disgusted every time I try to compile this list. . . . because they also try to hide them all from the public, they don't want you to know which ones they truly own.....and how many....I mean that is the first sign of guilt ...to me . But, if you are loaded and want a sure thing in a stock... here is your pick. Women will never stop caring about their hair - period. Buy a shitload of P & G tomorrow !

The Price of Sulfate-Free Shampoo

What Should You Pay For a Properly Formulated SLS-Free Shampoo?

This topic has surfaced more than a half dozen times lately – which brings me to flag it AND to write a POST. After just passing 1000 members in our little HAIR CARE FORUM/GROUP, I guess I will never again run out of subjects to write about. “Sulfate-Free Shampoo” continues to be the number 1 subject queried about on the KillerStrands site, which continues to puzzle me, as soon as I feel like I have written about every single angle there is on the subject, I can now see what writers must battle with who write for newspapers/magazines when they have one subject people want to keep hearing about…..no matter how much is written (and they are talented writers).
Many of you have been on the trail of the “PERFECT” Sulfate- Free Shampoo and although I am
not one that juggles 01-73979715 shampoos around any longer ( I find a great one, buy the king size version– which knocks the cost wwwwway down & I’m set for the year) I can understand how many of you do…. I used to. It wasn’t until I learned cosmetic chemistry that I learned to settle down with 1 great shampoo. Maybe you will one day as well. DA21266
What seems to be a constant sentiment is the disappointment in L’Oreals newest entry into the SLS-Free world, EVERPURE. I have heard disappointing comments across the board, sometimes I wonder if there are happy consumers of it and they just don’t write in. I mean it truly amazes me that I never hear any compliments about L’Oreal Hair products of any kind. They are a HUGE conglomerate……..Huge….they have to be huge for some reason. But I will be perfectly honest here as I always am. . . . L’Oreal is on the bottom rung as long as I can remember as far as the quality of their products, so I would stay away from them, until they do some re-formulating . . . which can very easily be done. wwwaaaaaa
Continually the disappointing news comes from Sulfate-Free Shampoo’s purchased in Drug Stores, Grocery stores and Discount stores I’m sorry to say. I would say about 50% of you are OK with the ORGANIX line http://www.organixhair.com/. So if you absolutely insist you can only spend $6.00 on your shampoo, to date, I would say that is your brand.a0178-000028
Here is my issue . . . for years I would battle my clients in “my chair”. . . yes, even a portion of Malibu clients had this thing for not wanting to spend much on a shampoo (not all – ‘some’- I need to be careful to say)… It “was” and “IS” a puzzle to me, so the fact that I continue to hear this from Killer Strand readers, reminds me of back-in-the-day. My hesitation at believing people can’t afford a shampoo that costs anymore than $6.00 is based on my experiences with all of my clients throughout the years, many of whom were wealthy beyond all of us.
There is some sort of weird stigma – though -- at least 50% of Americans think that shampoo should be the cost of a bar of soap, because basically that is all it does, is clean the hair. Soap is cheap, why not shampoo . . . was the sentiment I would hear most often. Shampoo is completely different than soap, although to be perfectly honest I feel the SLS-based soaps should not be used on the body - IN ANY WAY - and I use SLS-FREE Soaps that I find on ETSY.com. All hand made - Cold process Soaps - which means I think it takes 4-6 weeks for the soap to be fully processed. They are wonderful and so gentle on the skin.
I would always end up asking how much they spend on their face, both in skin and face products, in make-up and make-up supplies. The numbers were always – very VERY high… I would ask why they weren’t willing to take care of their hair nearly as well as their face . . .which would always reveal a puzzled look on faces of all types and ages, with most claiming to never have thought about it that way. Because when asked which was more important their hair or their skin – people have a very hard time choosing one over the other. Both are JUST as Important, which leads me to believe that spending the same amount on both should be the norm, well, it wasn’t.
What I can share with you is the fact that I get
200254248-001
almost - ZERO complaints on any of the Sulfate-free shampoos that sell for $15.00 and up. When a Shampoo is formulated correctly, which means using multiple surfactants ( the cleansing agent), not one – the product then requires you to use ‘HALF” as much of the amount of shampoo PER Wash….what does that mean? 1 bottle will last twice as long. So if you are getting twice the use out of 1 bottle of shampoo – the price therefore is definitely going down – way – way down. Maybe that’s not the best marketing strategy, but with a little research and a little experimentation you can find this out for yourself --- OR……trust me & believe in my facts. Its very hard to –re-train consumers…. once you have been used to using a certain amount of shampoo . . . you keep reaching for that same amount.
BUT…..BUT, I am hoping many of you will listen and learn this time out.
Try it, put a tiny cup ( glad to enclose with purchase of shampoo from http://killerstrands.myshopify.com/collections/sulfate-free-shampoos - just ask) in your Shower – pour the shampoo in the cup to assure yourself you are only using the tiniest of amounts. I am fairly certain the reason for the dislike of the inexpensive Sulfate-free shampoos stems from not using multiple surfactants and not using better ones. I fully understand keeping ‘costs’ down, but what good is any product if people don’t like it and won’t buy it ?
I will bet as soon as P&G steps into the sulfate-free shampoo arena you will find your first “best of ‘ALL’ worlds” product. They are pretty smart with their hair empire….and won’t want it tarnished with the release of a premature sulfate-free shampoo dud….I just cannot see that happening. The requirements as I understand them from all of you are this:
You want a Sulfate-Free Shampoo that:
  • has Lots of bubbles
  • cleans hair sufficiently
  • is a reasonable price
  • you can find easy enough
Is there anything I am missing? From emails I have received, and I promise you I receive a ca-zillion, these are your requirements.
