One in a Million… Farewell to a Friend

Every once in a while, someone enters our lives and touches us in a way that is inexplicable.  For me, that person was Dakota “KC” Ellis (Davison), so it is now with a heavy heart that I must inform all of you, that KC passed away just this past weekend. As many of you know, especially those that have been around for a while, KC had serious ongoing health issues for quite some time…  though she still managed, with a wonderful, but limited staff to bring to all of you her very own Killerstrands Brand and professional products as well as her professional expertise.

After attending Vidal Sassoon Academy and becoming L.A. Board Certified in Cosmetology, KC began an extremely successful career in a salon in Malibu, California, she even had some very well-known celebrity clients. She was that good! KC specialized in Color Correction, Blonding and Healthy Hair Regimens until she began experiencing serious health issues, which eventually forced her to end her career in the hair industry.  It was not long after she was diagnosed with the career ending health condition that she decided to use her 20+ years of expertise to “give back” by sharing her years of knowledge and education through the Killerstrands Hair Clinic Blog.  KC taught ordinary untrained individuals like myself how to color and care for their hair right in the comfort of their own homes… people like us became what she liked to call “Crib Colorists”. She helped the ordinary become extraordinary.

I cannot say enough good things about Dakota “KC” Ellis (Davison)… there is just simply not enough time! She was a good friend with a big heart and I will truly miss her.  My only regret is that I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye and thank her for all that she taught me… so KC, farewell my friend, it was a pleasure to know you as both a friend and professional. We will all miss you!!!

Yours Truly and with Lots of Love,

Crib Colorist Courtney
